Pope "Refuses Audience for Rice"
|
|
| "IGNORANCE and WANT" IRAQ 2007 |
There are at least two reasons why Pope Benedict may have decided peremptorily against a private meeting with Ms Rice.
First, it was Ms Rice who just before the outbreak of the Iraq war in March 2003 made it clear to a special papal envoy
sent from Rome, Cardinal Pio Laghi, that the Bush administration was not interested in the views of the late Pope on the immorality
of launching its planned military offensive.
Secondly, the US has responded in a manner considered unacceptable at the Vatican to the protection of the rights of Iraqi
Christians under the new Iraqi constitution.
Thank You Pope Benedict!
(A note from the Pastor: Two Popes John Paul II and Benedict have called the Iraq war immoral. Though not speaking "ex cathedra"
they both speak as the definitive church leader on a clearly moral issue. To ignore that verdict is to negate any church authority.
This negation cannot be judged a rationalization (as in the case of birth control where no overt harm is done). The facts
speak for themselves in any breakdown of the demographics of the last presidential election. Catholics support Mr. Bush to
an incredible degree as do all Catholic College Deans and Catholic hierarchy with the exception of a retired saint from Detroit
named Gumbleton. (If there are any Deans out there speaking for Catholicism or hierarchy also reflecting on Papal pronouncements,
please let me know) My disappointment is truly heartfelt but the facts are breathtaking.)
Americans, especially Catholics, however, love the sufferings and deaths of their desert brothers and sisters and the "cafeteria
catholic" American hierarchy is sinfully comatose apparently unaware that there even is a war.

Jesus said I am the way, the TRUTH and the life. Here is some TRUTH.....some "godliness" to counter the lies you are fed each
day. You must save the children ... they are yours.
The wealthiest and the most selfish. Let us give thanks that Calvin's God is indeed our own!!! Wealth because of Righteousness!
Poverty because of Sin!

Their son is DEAD. Why aren't all our children a part of this? Are the POOR cannon fodder for OUR CHILDREN and for US?
Doesn't anyone feel GUILTY or DIRTY about this?
If it doesn't affect you ...You are spiritually dead and only Jesus can resuscitate and save your soul.
WHY DO WE CRUCIFIED JESUS AGAIN AND AGAIN?
"The earth is too small a star and we too brief a visitor upon it for anything to matter more than the struggle for peace."
Colman McCarthy

Discipleship, Everyones Responsibility
The Call from Scripture
Faith and Deeds, James 2, 14-26
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother
or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but
does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action,
is dead.
But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds."
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.
You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that;and shudder.
You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous
for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together,
and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was
credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend. You see that a person is justified by what he does and
not by faith alone.
In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies
and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Rev 3:15-19
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm
"neither hot nor cold"I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need
a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

As the United States becomes a Third World Country does anyone care? Is silence and the increasingly depairing "I hope it
doesn't affect me." an answer to the end of skilled jobs here, healthcare similar to Nigeria's, a desolate planet for our
children and grandchildren and endless war in the name of OIL? How can we look our children in the eye?
Jesus is calling on YOU to respond... Listen!

It was with a great deal of hesitancy that the photo (below) was placed on this page. It is stark, it is mean, but it
is the reality we live. It is perhaps our only way to live through these times ... to stare reality right in the face.
We coexist with a world like New Orleans or Darfur or Iraq or the 40,000,000+ without medical care in America .... the violence
all around threatens to encompass us. But we follow the teachings of this Jesus who sought not power but love, not sectarian
or racial violence but community. WE have no choice but to follow and to follow faithfully, for if we say we are students
of this Jesus then living testimonies we must become. We must do that together in family. We must do that to bring about God's
kingdom on earth as the Lord's prayer promises.

Mr. Baker's words unfortunately find resonance with many Americans today. This is what happens when a culture refuses to
discuss politics and religion. This is why racism is still the major theology, philosophy and politic of America today. Soon
racism will fall under under a larger umbrella "THE POOR" ... then God Help Us All!
